Marukan Vinegar, a Japanese leader in rice vinegar brewing, is relocating its second U.S. brewery to Spalding County. The brewery is investing $13 million into the project and will bring 15 jobs to Georgia. Kajima Building & Design Group, Inc. (KBD Group) will be working on the Preconstruction and Schematic Design for the project. As Atlanta prepares for what is expected to be its strongest year of job growth since it hosted the 1996 Olympics, KBD Group and Marukan Vinegar are proud to contribute to Japan being one of Georgia’s top five investor nations. Japan-based companies also employ more Georgians than any other international company in the state.
“The fact that a global leader chose Georgia to locate its first east coast production facility is an indicator that our state is the right place for businesses to flourish,” said Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Chris Carr. “Our dynamic network of companies, interconnected transportation infrastructure and access to skilled talent continue to attract innovative businesses such as Marukan. We look forward to their continued growth here.”
KBD Group is currently in the planning phases for the 16-acre site, which will support Marukan’s growing customer base in the Southeast. Production is expected to begin in early 2017.
“We’ve been extremely honored to work with companies relocating to the U.S., and this will be our second partner locating to the state’s first eco-friendly park – The Lakes at Green Valley,” said Mike Rhinehart, vice president of KBD Group. “KBD Group is working on schematic designs and budgeting currently, utilizing our phased approach, which assists with keeping clients within their capital budgets.”
