March 2, 2015

ATLANTA (March 2, 2015) – Kajima Building & Design Group was recently awarded BFS USA’s first headquarters in the United States. The design-build project consists of a 309,000-square-foot manufacturing facility and a 221,000-square-foot warehouse on 167 acres of land in Cartersville for the Belgium-based manufacturer.

BFS USA produces raw materials, intermediate goods and offers an extensive range of seamlessly finished floorcoverings. The industrial group has 4,000 team members across 14 countries, and it plans to create 350 jobs in Georgia over the next five years. The manufacturing campus will produce 47 million square yards of cushion vinyl for commercial and residential application.

“We are experiencing growth across the globe for finished floorcoverings,” said Geert Roelens, CEO, BFS USA. “Our new plant in Cartersville will significantly increase our production and enable us to better supply the U.S. market. We greatly appreciate the state and local authorities in Georgia who supported this project.”

The project will consist of utilities, auger-cast piles, foundations, tilt-up walls, steel, TPO roofing, finishes, manufacturing type MEP systems, while also installing manufacturing equipment.

“KBD Group has experience managing construction projects for a diverse client base, including many first-time U.S. investors, which involves strategic planning and budgeting to ensure the facility is operational in a timely manner,” said Jim Goodwin, KBD Group vice president. ”BFS USA is creating hundreds of jobs in Georgia, and we’re proud to assist in this economic development endeavor.”
